What if I told you that changing your body language could increase your confidence, attitude and chances of success? Amy Cuddy, a Harvard psychologist, conducted a fascinating experiment that proves just that. Her most significant finding was that adjusting your body to reflect a more positive or inviting approach not only makes you appear more likeable, persuasive and competent to others, it actually improves the attitude you have about yourself.

Ms. Cuddy’s research includes measuring both the cortisol (the stress hormone) and testosterone (the confidence hormone) levels in subjects after they had been in various “high” or “low” power positions. Click here to watch Amy Cuddy’s incredible TED talk about this study.

Travis Bradbury wrote a follow-up article to Amy Cuddy’s findings, where he outlines the various ways body language has been proven to change the way you think about yourself, and thus, the way others perceive you. You can read his full article here.

I’ve had several clients who have experimented with this approach with great results. Have you tried a power pose lately? If you have, we’d love to hear about your experience. Please share below!
